Diabetes. Something that takes away all the sweetness in life. Off late, it is affecting people at a very young age, sometimes even 3 month olds. It is a situation where your pancreas is not generating enough insulin required by your body. Out of 177 million diabetes patients in the world, 32 millions (highest in the world) are Indians. A recent study says 80% of diabetics are prone to cardiovascular diseases and 20% land up with kidney diseases, while 80% of them suffer from diabetic retinopathy. Diabetes is also the cause of non-traumatic foot amputation and incidence of gangrene.
